Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer Quick Start – Shopify Excel Mode

Thanks for installing Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer. This guide shows you how to use Excel Mode for bulk changes.
Overview
Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer has two modes. Excel Mode lets you export product images to an Excel file, make many changes at once, and then import the Excel file back to sync with your store.
Quick checklist
- Step 1 Export Excel
Go toBulk Image Editor & Optimizer>Product Images>More>Export Excel, then download the file. - Step 2 Edit Excel
- To add images: set
Action = A, fillNew Image Path, and (optionally)Image AltText,Image Position, andVariants. - To update images: set
Action = U, changeImage AltText,Image Position,Variants, and/orNew Image PathorImage File Name. - To delete images: set
Action = Don the rows you want to remove.

- Step 3 Import Excel
Go back toBulk Image Editor & Optimizer>Product Images>More>Import Excel, upload the Excel file (and image zip if needed), then start the task.

When to use Excel Mode
- When you need to change many products or many images at once.
- When you are comfortable working in Excel or want to use filters and copy/paste.
- When Page Upload would take too long for the number of changes you need.
Detailed steps in Excel Mode
- Export the Excel file.
- Edit the Excel file: add new images, update existing images, or delete images.
- Import the Excel file.
Let's get started!
Export the Excel file

- Go to
Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer>Product Images. - Click
More, thenExport Excel
- In the confirmation box, select the default options and click
Confirm.
- Wait for the export to complete, then click
Downloadto get the Excel file.
Edit the Excel File
Open the exported Excel file.

Understanding Each Column
| Title | Description |
|---|---|
| Product Title | For your reference only. Shows which product this row belongs to. Optional. Changing this will not change anything in your online store. |
| Image Url | For your reference only. Shows the current online image URL or a thumbnail from Excel macros. Optional. Changing this will not change anything in your online store. |
| Image AltText | Optional. Edit this text to change the image alt text in your store. This can help with SEO and accessibility. |
| Image Position | Optional. Change the number to reorder images. Use 1 for the first image, 2 for the second, and so on. Leave blank for new images; they will be placed last. |
| Variants | Optional. Shows which variants use this image. Editing this will change which variants the image belongs to in your store. One image can belong to multiple variants. |
| Action | Required. Tells Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer what to do with this row: A (Add a new image), D (Delete an image), U (Update an existing image). This is the most important column. |
| New Image Path | Required for Add and Update. The path or URL to the new image. Supports web URLs, relative paths, zip files, or Dropbox links. |
| Product ID | Do not edit. Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer uses this to find the right product. When you add new images, make sure this value is copied correctly. |
| Image ID | Do not edit. Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer uses this to find the right image when deleting or updating. |
Adding Images

Add two new rows under
Straw Large Capacity Bagand fill in the Product Title and Product ID correctly.
Prepare two images:

Fill in the
Actioncolumn withAfor Add and provide the image path in New Image Path.
Updating Images

- For the product name
frog sku, updateImage AltText,Position, andVariants. - Make sure to fill in the Action column with U for Update. You can modify the Image
Alt Text,Position, andVariants, as well as the image source. Here, we will update two images to the new source by changing theNew Image Path.
Deleting Images
For the image you want to delete, fill in the Action column with D for Delete.

A total of 2 new images were added, 11 images were updated, and 1 image was deleted.

Import Excel

- Go to
Bulk Image Editor & Optimizer>Product Images. - Click
More, thenImport Excel.
- In the pop-up window, upload the Excel file and the image zip file. Click
Confirm.
The system will validate each row in the Excel file and then redirect to the Task Details page. You can review and
remove changes if needed. Click Start Task to execute the task.
